6/19/95 Deer Creek Music CeNter, Noblesville, IN This show was actually
oNe of the loNgest shows of 1995. There's
about 2 hours aNd 52 miNutes or so of music. This YEM has a very spacey
aNd mystical pre-NirvaNa sectioN that seems to
go oN pretty loNg, eveN for 1995. NirvaNa comes at 4:03! Beautiful..
Mike's solo-sectioN is awry aNd scary arouNd 4:50,
aNd Mike is awfully dark aNd evil-souNdiNg. Pre-charge sectioN is fiNe.
Notes are hit pretty well, but the secoNd Note
isN't sustaiNed all too cleaNly. "Boy" at 7:27. Very powerful BMGS
segmeNt, with Trey beltiNg out MaN aNd God.
WUDMTF. WUDMTF. WUDMTF. WUDMTF. Boy, maN, wash uffizi drive me to fireNzi?
WUDMTF. Boy, maN, wash
uffizi drive me to fireNzi? WUDMTF. WUDMTF. WUDMTF. WUDMTF. WUDMTF.
Lots of great fuNkiNg iN this
WUDMTF segmeNt.. At 9:38 the trampoliNes sectioN begiNs, aNd Mike quickly
begiNs sigNalliNg for the trampoliNes
moves. Page is playiNg arouNd well, but is Not very passioNate (well,
Not more thaN usual). He's very jazzy aNd playful,
aNd isN't iNterested iN pouNdiNg out chords aNd melodiously struttiNg
his stuff. Jam segmeNt begiNs at 11:12, with Mike
fuNkiNg out oN the bass. Trey doesN't come iN uNtil 11:31 or so, aNd
theN he just rhythmically chords a bit, without really
doiNg much at all. WheN he does start NoodliNg arouNd, after about
a miNute, he isN't really that profouNd. It is MIKE
who really fuNks out aNd phaaatly takes over! I'm serious!! Mike is
really stroNg arouNd 13:15 aNd iN this YEM geNerally.
Trey is actually pretty reserved. He hits oN a Nice theme arouNd 13:30-14
miNs, but doesN't take it aNywhere. Mike is still
phatly fuNkiNg all over the place. Some effects from Trey arouNd 14:16..
he fiNally starts soloiNg professioNally iN a
reasoNably typical YEM fashioN arouNd 14:30. It isN't all that sweet,
though. HoNestly, agaiN, Mike souNds like the oNe to
pay atteNtioN to iN here. AroudN 15 the jam gets pretty RAW aNd ass-kickiNg
with some dark, vicious,
somewhat-Oye-Como-Va chords from Trey (differeNt key thaN Oye.. several
octaves lower thaN the usual chords, too).
Trey sooN starts soloiNg iN typical YEM fashioN iN the upper octaves
of the 'doc, aNd he does solo quite well (15:45). The
coNcludiNg soloiNg is pretty deceNt but Not all that iNspiriNg to me
persoNally. ArouNd 16:25 it begaN to souNd like Trey
would let loose some Dave's ENergy Guide sorts of licks but he didN't.
He just screws arouNd for the most part. Really
vicious eNdiNg to this YEM's jam segmeNt, iN all fairNess to it, but
I doN't fiNd it terribly iNspiriNg. Trey's soloiNg is pretty
evil, though! ANd there's some effect arouNd 17:30 to close out the
jam segmeNt.. Bass aNd drums basically starts at 17:50,
with effects from Trey iN the opeNiNg. Mike repeats a theme over aNd
over agaiN iN the begiNNiNg thirty secoNds before
fuNkiNg it out.. Nice effects, eh? Fish goes off quite well iN here,
too. Mike's soloiNg is very beautiful, I thiNk.. mellifluous iN
the opeNiNg. It does get very odd-souNdiNg arouNd 19 miNutes... Niiiiice
licks iN here, though! The last miNute souNds
kiNda weird.. as if Mike had aN idea about what to jam out oN but forgot
it. DidN't souNd to smooth. This is still a loNg
segmeNt with good stuff iN it. ClosiNg WUDMTF segmeNt at 20:15. I'm
Not goiNg to embarrass myself by tryiNg to
describe this. It was oNe of the greatest vocal jams I've ever witNessed
*live*. Perhaps the most memorable, eveN though it
was remarkably short. Total time is arouNd 23:30 or so. Lots of screamiNg
in the vocal jam.. I fouNd it frighteNiNg. It isN't
that pleasaNt to listeN to... Mike was pretty impressive iN this YEM,
imo. B/B- ratiNg. FollowiNg all of that craziNess with
acoustic army was pretty cool... Note that this was the lamest YEM
from JuNe 1995, imo. ANd I was physically preseNt for
this YEM.. two ceNts chaNdrew
